SKYPARK'S HISTORY & FUTURE
Sky Park began in 1946 as a dream of Winfield Allen to have an airport with full service repairs and hanger along with two runways. After having to purchase more land than was needed, and SkyPark being on Wilson Lake, it was decided to create SkyPark Beach, which would be a place for family fun on Wilson Lake. You could swim all day for 50¢. With a 100 ft. pier, diving tower, seaplane rides and snack bar, SkyPark Beach was a very busy place during the summers until the 1960's. In the early fifties, having no where to play himself, Winfield decided to build the first public golf course in the area. In 1954 SkyPark Golf Course opened and was open until 2006. In the late fifties Winfield saw the need for the development of golf course and lakefront residential property. After starting this venture Winfield unexpectedly passed away, leaving his dream alive with his wife Marian, three sons and a daughter.

Today we are taking Skypark to the next level with curbed and guttered streets as well as all underground utilities. Our short term plan involves single family homes where the golf course once was, and lake side homes. We will be looking into developing other types of homes in the future. Boat docks, marinas, and the new Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail (across Wilson Lake) are only minutes away as is downtown Florence. It has always been our purpose to provide affordable lake side and off shore housing without having too many homes as with other developments. The next major enhancement at SkyPark will be developing the former golf course property which will have many common areas. This will be followed by numerous other enhancements planned for the future. With Florence being a great retirement location and our resolve to make SkyPark a great place to live and play, makes this a great time to invest in a home or home site before the secret is out and the prices begin to skyrocket.
